For my class in 3D modeling and rigging, the goal for this project was to choose a character (fictional, historical, etc.) and create an environment based on them, but with a twist of our own. My piece was based on the idea of Vincent Van Gogh if he was a recluse in Florida, so I worked to create what his bedroom would look like in a wooden house by the ocean.

This involved creating furniture based on the rattan and wicker style, giving the feel of someplace rustic, messy, but still well-kept. We had to include some animation in the final render, which could include camera movement. For that part of the assignment, I animated the lantern swinging, the palm trees in the background swaying in the breeze, and had the camera create a “zolly” (dolly-zoom) effect. This effect was to give the impression of something not feeling right to reflect the late painter’s mental state.
