Surreal Commercial: Publix Limited Edition Ice Cream

The objective of this assignment for my Visualization and Storyboarding class was to conceptualize a commercial with a surreal visual approach to whatever product we were advertising. The product I decided on was Publix Brand Limited Edition Ice Cream, one of my favorite things to purchase when grocery shopping. This piece aimed to represent the limited edition flavors of ice cream through the visuals of weather. A storm would be approaching various onlookers from different landscapes, only to reveal that the clouds comprise of assorted foods, patterns, and shapes, each abstractly representing the numerous flavors.


As the storm rolls in, rain would pour down in the form of ice cream with spectators taking out their cones and dishes to catch a sample. However, the weather clears up and there’s no more ice cream left for the people to try, going back to it being limited edition. All hope is not lost when they hear that another storm will be coming up soon, so they prepare for when another flavor is made available.
